This Privacy Policy explains how Tugboat, operated by Solace Officials Pty Ltd, collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Tugboat mobile application and related services.

1. Information Tugboat may collect

Tugboat is designed as a privacy-focused browser and VPN service. We aim to collect only information necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service.

Account and authentication information
Tugboat may use anonymous or Firebase-based authentication to identify an app installation or user session. This may include a unique account or user identifier generated by Firebase.

Subscription and purchase information
If you purchase Tugboat+, Google Play processes your payment. Tugboat may receive information confirming your subscription status, purchase entitlement, product purchased, and related transaction identifiers. Tugboat does not receive or store your full credit card or banking details.

Advertising information
Free users may be shown advertisements provided through Google AdMob. Google and its advertising technologies may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, approximate device information, ad interaction information, consent status, and related information required to provide, measure, secure, or personalise advertising where permitted.

VPN and service connection information
When using Tugboat’s private routing or VPN features, technical information necessary to establish and maintain the connection may be processed. This may include network and connection status, assigned VPN configuration information, server or gateway information, connection timestamps, data necessary to enforce free usage limits or subscription entitlements, and technical diagnostic information required to maintain the service.

Tugboat does not require access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, SMS messages, phone calls, or precise device location.

2. Browsing activity

Tugboat provides web browsing functionality.

Websites you visit may independently collect information from you in accordance with their own privacy policies, cookies, tracking technologies, or other practices.

Tugboat does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites.

The operation of a VPN or network-routing service necessarily involves transmitting network traffic through infrastructure used to provide the service. Tugboat does not intentionally build advertising profiles based on the contents of your browsing activity.

3. How information is used

  • Provide and operate Tugboat.
  • Authenticate users and app installations.
  • Establish and maintain VPN or private-routing connections.
  • Manage free usage allowances.
  • Verify Tugboat+ subscription entitlements.
  • Display and measure advertising for free users.
  • Remove advertising and usage limits for eligible Tugboat+ users.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, misuse, or unauthorised access.
  • Diagnose crashes, technical issues, and service failures.
  • Maintain and improve the reliability and security of Tugboat.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Third-party services

Google Firebase
Used for authentication, backend functionality, database services, and related app infrastructure.

Google Play Billing
Used to process Tugboat+ subscriptions and purchases.

Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform
Used to provide advertising, advertising consent controls, and related measurement for eligible free users.

Google Play Services and Android services
Used for normal Android application functionality.

Cloud and server infrastructure
Tugboat may use cloud-hosted backend services and VPN infrastructure to operate account, entitlement, routing, and service-management functions.

5. Advertising

Tugboat may display advertisements to users of the free version. Tugboat+ subscribers are intended to receive an ad-free experience while their subscription or complimentary entitlement remains active.

Where required, Tugboat may request your advertising or privacy consent before requesting certain advertisements.

Advertising providers may collect or process information such as advertising identifiers, device information, IP address, approximate location derived from network information, ad impressions, and interactions.

6. Data sharing

Tugboat does not sell your personal information.

Information may be shared with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate Tugboat, including providers responsible for authentication, cloud hosting, billing, advertising, diagnostics, and networking.

Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect the rights, safety, or property of Tugboat, Solace Officials Pty Ltd, users, or others.

7. Data security

Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used to protect information handled by Tugboat. Where supported by the relevant service, information is transmitted using encrypted connections.

No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security, and users should take reasonable precautions when using online services.

8. Data retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing the service, maintaining security, processing subscriptions, meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes, and preventing abuse.

Information that is no longer reasonably required may be deleted or anonymised.

9. Account and data deletion

Where Tugboat maintains information associated with your account or app identity, you may request deletion of that information using the contact details below.

Where applicable, deletion requests will result in associated Tugboat account information being permanently deleted unless retention is required for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, financial, or legal purposes.

Deleting Tugboat data does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. Subscriptions should also be managed through Google Play.

10. Permissions

Tugboat does not request access to sensitive device features such as camera, microphone, contacts, SMS messages, call logs, photos or personal media storage, or precise device location.

Tugboat uses normal Android capabilities required to provide internet access, network services, VPN functionality, advertising, subscriptions, and related application operations.

11. Children’s privacy

Tugboat is not specifically designed for children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children in circumstances where parental consent would be legally required.

12. International processing

Tugboat and its third-party service providers may process information using infrastructure located outside your state or country. Where this occurs, information may be subject to the laws applicable in those locations and to the privacy protections provided by the relevant service providers.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to Tugboat, legal requirements, third-party services, or privacy practices. The current version will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
